Oh, gosh, where to begin? The ‘About Me’ sections are always the hardest to fill out.Well, here goes nothing:
I am a 24 year old mom who is studying Forensic Science and Criminal Justice at UCO. I’m using this blog as a way to write about my experiences as a young mom who is going through school and as a way to review books that I read.
I always enjoyed crime dramas on television – NCIS, Blue Bloods, CSI, Forensic Files, etc – but I never thought that I would want to actually study Criminal Justice or Forensic Science. I wasn’t always a CJ/Forensic major. In fact I was studying to be a Museum curator; a History degree was what I thought was in my future. I soon realized that I absolutely despised history. Yes, I found it interesting, but it wasn’t something I wanted to study.
A friend pushed me into Forensics, and in doing so I had to pick another major, so I chose Criminal Justice. I was hooked from the start. I am in love with my academics and the path I chose. I have my friend to thank for pushing me in that direction!
I may not want to be a cop and I may not want to be in a lab, but I do know that I want to be in this field, because they have so much to offer and so many paths I can take within the Criminal Justice field.
Forensics is a passion of mine. So is reading. I have always loved to read, as long as I can remember. Sometimes I go through slumps, usually when school is in session, and sometimes I can power through a book a day. I want to share my reading experiences with like minded people and I hope to find new books to read as I follow along with everyone.
I hope to use this blog as a way to share my experiences throughout school and my passion for reading. I also want people to get an idea of what it’s really like to go to school as a parent and the struggles I face to get through the day. It wasn’t easy finding out I was going to be a mom, because I had a whole plan for myself, and at first I thought it was ruined. My plans haven’t changed. Not in the slightest. In fact I have renewed motivation to get through these plans because I have someone I love to share them with.
Not only am I an avid reader, passionate about forensics and my son, but I am also a dignified cat lady. Yes, I admit it now. I have two and I adore them to pieces.
Meet Holly and Jill. Jill is 13 years old and I have had her since I was a kid. Holly I adopted last December and I am so glad I did. She is the perfect addition to my little family. Holly is on the left and Jill is on the right.
Now that I have basically told you everything about my life, some of which you all probably don’t care about, I will end it here and hope that you all enjoy my modest little blog!
